With a branch library within a half-mile of nearly all of Brooklyn’s 2.6 million residents and currently nearly 700,000 active cardholders BPL is the fifth largest public library system in the US.
In its first annual report BPL declared its undertaking “to improve the quality of the minds of the people… and lay the foundation of a better civilization for the future”. Sharing BPL's five core principles and focus areas the Strategic Plan 2018 offers an insight on how the execution of that mission has evolved, while Spotlights show its translation into inclusive programming for everyone.
